GOOD NEWS ABOUT THE FUTURE.

The world will be a better place in a hundred years, optimists say.
Life will be more comfortable than today. Computers, more sophisticated machines than today, will do much of our work so we will have more time for sports and entertainment. Cities won't continue to grow. People will live in smaller communities and almost everybody will be happier.
Pollution one of the worst problems today will be a thing of the past cause we'll be more civilized and concerned with planet's health. Respect will be our order word.
Optimists say all these things will happen in a hundred years, but we will never know. We won't be here.

After prison blaze kills hundreds in Honduras, UN warns on overcrowding.

A United Nations human rights official today called on Latin American countries to tackle the problem of prison overcrowding in the wake of an overnight fire at a jail in Honduras that killed hundreds of inmates. More than 300 prisoners are reported to have died in the blaze at the prison, located north of the capital, Tegucigalpa, with dozens of others still missing and presumed dead. Antonio Maldonado, human rights adviser for the UN system in Honduras, told UN Radio today that overcrowding may have contributed to the death toll: “But we have to wait until a thorough investigation is conducted so we can reach a precise cause,” he said. “But of course there is a problem of overcrowding in the prison system, not only in this country, but also in many other prisons in Latin America.”

The power of The Sun King

Louis XVI, king of France, was known as the Sun King because of the brilliance of his court and the glory that was France during his reign, the Golden Age of French culture.
One day the king had an informal talk with some ministers at Versailles. He was telling them about the absolute power that great kings have over their subjects, when one of the ministers, the Comte de Guinche, objected that such power must have its limits.
Louis replied immediately, "If a commanded you to throw yourself into the sea, you would be the first to obey me." The minister, instead of replying, turned his back and walked to the door. Astonished, Louis asked him where he was going. "To learn to swim, sire," said the minister.
